For Immediate Release
MidCoast Regional Airport Preferred Stop for Veterans Airlift Command
Since opening in November 2007, MidCoast Regional Airport at Wright Army Airfield (LHW) has played host to a number of wounded warriors receiving transportation assistance from the Veterans Airlift Command. The Veterans Airlift Command provides free air transportation to wounded warriors, veterans and their families for medical and other compassionate purposes through a national network of volunteer aircraft owners and pilots.
Since MidCoast Regional Airport at Wright Army Airfield is one of a few joint-use airports in the country, the local civilian leaders have decided to assist the cause and make the Airport a preferred stop for the Veterans Airlift Command. To promote the charity and the volunteer pilots, preferred fuel discounts are now provided to pilots that are on a wounded warrior mission. In addition, pilots that can demonstrate that they have flown previous missions will also be given preferred fuel discounts.
